Kusaka was commissioned by Agency for Cultural Affairs (National Commission for Protection of Cultural Properties at the time) and copied the current situation of ornamental tumulus fresco of Burial Mound age in each places of the whole country. Fresco of ornamental tumulus in the country is drawn, and time of more than one thousand years flows, and not only deterioration of wall surface advances, but also there are many things that pattern is indistinct under the influence of water bleeding in Nikko and burial mound. Therefore, Kusaka succeeded in reproduction in form near ornamental tumulus fresco whom not only we recorded the current situation, but also fresco was drawn at the time.
Patterns such as concentric sentence or triangle sentence are described in burial mound of Tashiro, Tosu-shi Ota ancient tomb where the existence was known in the Taisho year other than pictures such as ship and horse, person. We advance, and, as well as other ornamental tumuluses, deterioration is hard to distinguish pattern of real fresco, but primitive picture of Burial Mound age revives by job of Kusaka lively in the present age.
You set illustration of reconstruction copying beside illustration of present copying of ornamental tumulus of Tashiro Ota ancient tomb at the same time this time and see pattern of ornamental tumulus which revived under the observing eye of Kusaka in the present age. In addition, put frescos of Otsuka, Fukuoka ancient tomb where Kusaka was drawn as comparison material together and display and would appreciate your feeling discerning eye for cultural assets of Kusaka.
